THE GATHERING OF THE EAGLES
The 50th Reunion of Sir James Dunn C. & V.S.
Thanksgiving Weekend – October 5 – 8, 2006

REGISTRATION

Thursday, October 5: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday, October 6: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 7: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Registration mandatory fee to attend reunion events: $10.00 per person
Name tags must be worn to all events.
The registration fee includes: name tag and email labels, event passes, all activities at the school including “Decade Rooms”, “Roam-a-Round”, “Sing-a-Long”, “Coffee House” (and one complimentary beverage) in the cafeteria, sports events, participation in the 5K Run/Walk, admission to the Football Game SJD vs. St. Mary's College and the "Tailgate Zone". The Registration Desk will be located in the Front Foyer of the school.

CO-ED BASKETBALL

Thursday, October 5: 7:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Roberta Bondar Gymnasium – Sir James Dunn
An invitation to all athletes to re-live their dreams in co-ed “pick-up” Basketball Games. Try out the new wooden floor. Free with registration but advance indication of participation required. Spectators are encouraged at all sports events to cheer for your favourite players. “Instant Replay” at “Brody’s” following. COFFEE HOUSE – SJD CAFETERIA

Thursday, October 5: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Friday, October 6: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 7: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Drop in, relax and mingle with SJD Alumni. Enjoy a complimentary coffee/beverage (included with registration). Other confections available for purchase +.

DECADE ROOMS

Friday, October 6: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 7: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A chance to re-connect with your classmates and colleagues. Swap stories. Reminisce. Exaggerate how successful you’ve been. Exchange addresses, phone numbers and emails. Make plans for getting together later in the weekend. Decade Rooms are planned according to when you attended.

ROAM-AROUND

Friday, October 6: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 7: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Following registration, take a self-guided roam around the school. Check out the new facilities. Marvel at how the physical plant has changed – yet remains the same. Is your locker still there? Wander through the “smoking area”. Visit your favourite homeroom teacher’s class. Find your photo in one of the many championship teams displayed proudly in the hallway opposite the office. Finish your trip with a coffee in the cafeteria.

OLDTIMERS’ HOCKEY

Friday, October 6: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m

JOHN RHODES ARENA

Sharpen and lace up the blades in a non-contact Hockey Game. Bring your own equipment; Limited to 40 players; Goalies especially welcome!
Price: $10.00 per person to cover ice rental; advance indication of participation required. Pre-register with Glen Stortini at (705) 759-1733 or gastortini@hotmail.com

WINE & CHEESE SOCIAL

Friday, October 6: 8:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
Algoma’s Water Tower Inn- Limited to the first 1000 registrants
Price: $20.00 per person with advance registration; $30.00 at the door.
Cash Bar
Admission Includes: Cheese, Crackers, Hors d’oeuvres, Fruit, Dessert, Tea/Coffee, Entertainment.

5K RUN / WALK

Saturday, October 7: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

From the Sir James Dunn “Roberta Bondar Gymnasium” – change rooms and shower facilities available. Free with registration but advance indication of participation preferred. This is a “FUN” Run / Walk. Pre-register with Glen Stortini at (705) 759-1733 or gastortini@hotmail.com

SING-ALONG

Saturday, October 7: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon

Sir James Dunn’s Music Room

An invitation to all choristers past and present to sing in four-part harmony.
All singers are welcome, whether you were a member of the choir or not, or sang in Oliver, West Side Story, or Oklahoma - - - or you just like to sing
No performance scheduled - - - just a chance to sing !
Choir practice to be conducted by James Whicher

FOOTBALL GAME

Saturday, October 7

11:00 a.m. – Meet at the school to decorate cars for the PARADE to Queen Elizabeth Park.
Practice “Little Red Rooster”

12:00 Noon – Join the Parade – on foot or on wheels – Parade route along Mark Street and McMeekin Street.
Free Admission to the Game and Tailgate Zone if you’re wearing your name tag !!

1:00 p.m. – KICK-OFF SJd vs. St. Mary's College. Following the game, celebrate another EAGLE VICTORY in the Coffee House at the school or enjoy a “cool one” in the Tailgate Zone or at Brody’s in the John Rhodes Centre

STAFF T.G.I.F

Saturday, October 7: 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m
John Rhodes Centre - Pool Room
Cash Bar
Re-connect with former and present teachers and support staff after the football game.


OKTOBERFEST in the EAGLES’ NEST

Price: $25.00 per person with advance registration;
$35.00 at the door
Cash Bar ---- Limited to the first 1,000 registrants

SUNDAY BRUNCH

Sunday, October 8: 10:30 a.m.

MARCONI BANQUET HALL – Albert Street West

One last chance to share food and conversation before returning to our homes.
Price: $15.00 per person with advance registration; $20.00 at the door

You will note that the “Formal Program” for the weekend ends on Sunday afternoon. Your reunion committee acknowledges that you may wish to have some time to spend with family or to plan your own events (brunch/lunch/dinner/casino/Algoma Central colour train tour/etc.) with classmates you haven’t seen in some time.
